BBC Sports Awards

MCL have been flexing their creative muscles using stock of Versa TILE low resolution LED video wall and Versa TUBE for the BBC Midlands Sports Awards at the National Motor Cycle Museum near Solihull.

General Manager, Jamie McAffer and Project Manager, Mark Castle worked to produce an outstanding solution for the event, with stars of the summer Olympics in attendance the occasion was truly deserving of the spectacular stage constructed.

In the initial stages of the design full use was made of MCL’s in house 3D facilities to pre-visualise and fine tune the design and clearly communicate it to the client. The stage took the form of a huge 13 metre wide by 3.5 metre high wall of Versa TILE with an equally impressive widescreen projection area. Set into the wall was an archway through which presenters could enter onto the stage from an area which was lined with sixty 1 metre long Versa TUBE units.

As well as the stage MCL provided sound and lighting; the entire room was lit to dramatic effect to bring the event into the audience. Cameras and a portable production unit were used to produce the event live on site. The footage was also recorded and the highlights of the show were aired on local news in a series of special segments.
