Costcutter 25th Anniversary

Celebrating 25 years of Costcutter, the Hilton Birmingham Metropole was chosen to host their supplier exhibition followed by a grand gala evening dinner.

The concept for the gala focused on the title “Welcome to World Class Service” and was themed around a Cunard style cruise liner. MCL were asked to translate this idea into a set and stage solution which would deliver the theme and wow their guests.

The solution proposed was for a stage set featuring a central stage themed as a cruise ship deck. Supported with two 50 foot floor to ceiling projection screens which extended from left and right of the stage and wrapped around three sides of the room. Across this MCL generated a virtual sea and horizon and took the delegates on a cruise with the ship pulling out of Sydney harbour and sailing across the ocean as the sun set.

MCL were able to timeline the evening cruise, with lighting effect in the Monarch Suite changing with the screens to simulate sunset and the stars coming out. The cruise concluded with a spectacular virtual firework display which ended gala evening.
