IOD Scotland Awards

Jim McColl was named as this year’s Institute of Directors Scotland - Director of the Year at a glittering awards ceremony held in Glasgow at the Crowne Plaza hotel. Mr McColl is the Chairman and Chief Executive of engineering group, Clyde Blowers Ltd and he took the top honour at the gala awards event, in recognition of his services to industry in Scotland.

Based in East Kilbride, Clyde Blowers describes itself as one of the worlds most successful and innovative business development companies. Mr McColl bought the company where he started his working life as a 16 year old apprentice. Last year he bolstered the business with the largest transaction in its history — a $1 billion deal to buy the entire Fluid and Power division of Textron, an American Fortune 500 multi-industry company. His win was announced in front of more than 350 winners, finalists and assorted guests by the event’s host, Scotland Today presenter Shereen Nanjiani.

The evening’s other big winner was Sir Andrew Cubie CBE who took home the coveted IoD Scotland Chairman’s Award. Sir Andrew was recognised for his lifelong contribution to promoting the role of directorship in Scotland, he has also been central to the development of many organisations in Scotland.

MCL delivered all technical support and project management to the awards, having done so year on year since they started in 2005. This year we utilised our latest LED video technology product, Stealth to great effect.
