EFTA Print Awards

The creative partnership between the teams at Conference Care Productions and MCL was put into action when Conference Care were asked to provide technical production for the recent EFTA print awards. EFTA are the European Flexographic Technical Association and their annual awards represent a highlight in the print industry calendar. The awards ceremony was hosted by Shaun Williamson and was held for the first time in the new Savile Hall at Leeds Armouries.

To complement the height and size of the new venue and deliver the impact that Conference Care Productions wanted to create for their client, MCL's project manager Mark Oakland proposed a dramatic widescreen solution to deliver real wow factor for the awards. The stage set comprised a central 30’ x 10’ widescreen backed by colour changing LED star cloth and flanked to either side with up lit fabric drapes. The image displayed on the stunning widescreen was provided by three blended Panasonic 10,000 lumens projectors with content controlled by MCL’s Spyder widescreen system. All the projectors were fed via fibre optic cables to ensure there was no image degradation and that the picture delivered onto the screen was crystal clear.

To deliver the event content, a bespoke screen background was designed for the event and over this branded backdrop the Spyder system was used to introduce picture in picture windows showing live camera feeds or graphic loops which were soft edged into the backdrop to provide a seamless look to the presentations. A full lighting rig consisting of LED lighting, generic spotlights and moving head lighting was provided and used to light both the stage area and to light the tables across the entire hall and sound was delivered via a Nexo Geo S12 line array sound system which delivered volume and clarity for both the awards presentations and also the band providing the musical entertainment that followed.
